Woman Mayor miraculously survives…

Morelia, Michoacan .- After surviving two attempts, the Mayor of Tiquicheo, Michoacán, Maria Santos Gorrostieta, decided to break the silence and show the marks of bullets left.
In an unusual fact, the official broadcast a message to society accompanied by photographs showing the injuries to the abdomen, arms and back.

“I wanted to show my body hurt, maimed, humiliated, because I am not ashamed of it, because is the result of major calamities that have marked my life, my children and my family, “he said.
Since taking office on January 1, 2008, the Mayor has suffered two attacks to death at the hands of criminal groups.

The first attack took place on October 15, 2009, when unknown persons opened fire on her and her husband, Jose Sanchez, while waiting for an official to attend a working tour. Sanchez died at the event and she was left with several wounds in the body, which managed to overcome.

However, just months after it was attacked a second time when he participated in a tour of the town of Ciudad Altamirano, Guerrero, and a command shot with assault guns the vehicle he was driving. On that occasion the Mayor was taken to a hospital in Morelia and survived.

In a statement released today, says Gorrostieta have experienced moments of horror and regret that there are still those who doubt the gunshot wounds that caused the attacks.

“Today, the proof is in your hands, my maimed body speaks for itself as a test of how vulnerable we are (…). What you can do not need much explanation, ” said he resigned a few months ago PRI alleging lack of support to her person.

At the present, the Mayor Maria Santos has been allowed to see acts of the oppossition partie,  and is mentioned as a possible candidate in his district to the State Congress in this year elections.
